The evening will feature a live make-up, body painting and “gore” show courtesy Mastermind Makeup Artistry Academy. Rites of Passage tattoo will also be there with a display - manned by none other than Graemme “Bloodclot” Burke, an original NJC member circa 1996-1997. Other acts will perform, including might guitar crushers Adolyne fronted by the Swarm. Come costumed, come painted.
Be there - be there early - plan ahead. This event will be THE deathrock summit of 2004....Saturday October 23rd at Walker’s. More details to come.
Dark Canada Documentary DVD & NJC Video
The New Jacobin Club will appear in a film/documentary in summer 2005 entitled “Dark Canada”. It is a documentary of “dark culture” across Canada featuring the music, fashions, clubs and people populating the evil Canadian underbelly of pop culture. While the film will be shown at theatres catering to alternative cinema, the DVD release will hopefully see widespread distribution across Canada. The band was interviewed on a sunny afternoon at the foot of the old Victoria bridge in Saskatoon, and the taping attracted a the attention of many curious and cautious pedestrians walking through the park.
If all goes well, the DVD should also feature a studio-synched music video for “City of Thieves.” While many independent groups in Canada (especially the ones that dress up like roadkill) have no outlet to showcase music videos, this documentary has been the excuse the NJC have been looking for to produce a quick albeit quality video for a track of their recent “Retake the Throne” album.

Fall/Winter Television Appearance
At the May 21st concert at Walker’s, Saskatoon, the SCN camera crew was set up to capture the NJC live and chat with the band. This live feature & interview is intended to air sometime in the 2004-2005 season of Entertainment West, a music program that follows bands and concerts around Western Canada. A week before the NJC taping, the SCN crew did Metallica as well. NJC was informed that the intent is to air the Metallica and NJC footage in the same episode.

To get a taste, here's a lo-fi mp3 of opening track
Chamber Door. Watch for lyrics to be posted on the site in the very near future...enough people asked, so we'll bend on it this time.
A special message to all those who would be NJC fans...
At the main menu page of this site, there was at one time a message above the e-mail button (that hovering ghost that says "spook mail"). This message also appears at our MP3.com page. It informs you that you will get FREE stuff in the mail from the NJC when you send us your street address. Well, in the world of internet & e-mail, very few people take this offer seriously.
To reward the faithful, EVERYONE ON OUR CURRENT MAILING LIST WILL RECEIVE A FREE COPY OF "RETAKE THE THRONE"!
Feeling left out? It may be too late to get the free disc, but not too late to sign up for future mail-outs (stickers, keychains, posters...).
E-mail your street address here:
U.S. Publicity & Distribution
The NJC has recently agreed to work with Sinbad Productions in the U.S. to
distribute and promote the new album out this June. Hopefully you will be
seeing an agressive ad campaign in both minor and major music magazines
this fall. In addition, Ballbuster Hard Music will be distributing the album in the U.S. and pushing it to larger labels and distributors. The first NJC full-length will be available through Ballbuster this spring.
Now wouldn't it be fabulous if the Canadian Music Industry was a little less gutless so we could actually promote ourselves in our own goddamn country?
Skeleton Key - soundtrack update
The low-budget zombie/gore thriller SKELETON KEY (in the vein of Sam Raimi's
Evil Dead Series) is in the final editing stages down at Darkstone
Entertainment, Waynesboro, Va. The NJC has signed a lending-only agreement
for use of the instrumental track "Rats in the Walls" in the movie as well
as trailers and end credits should they so choose to use it. The recording
in question is a slightly different mix of the same song appearing on the
NJC self-titled full-length CD. In an e-mail from Darkston Entertainment
we were told the track is used in the background of a "zombie chase scene."
NJC speaks
A hefty interview with the The Horde, The Swarm and Lady Arkham conducted in January by Duff Daschuck of the threeohsix.org writers department can be read here in its entirety, complete with a brilliant background story of how he survived the ordeal.
The same interview, minus the photos, can also be seen at threeOHsix.org, the Saskatchewan/Prairie Province underground music central. Check this site out to get news on concerts and music discussion from all over the province.
NJC graciously acknowledges...
We would like to mention a few mortals worthy of note who made
our August dates possible and aided in our quest for domination:
Rob Wright at the Likwid Lounge (Edmonton), Mike Ash at the
Exchange (Regina), Bruce & Dane for doing a kick ass job of running
Freedomfest (North Battleford), Kevin at the Driving Force for
getting us on the road with a cheap van. All the bands we played
with (Dirtbred, Ripcordz, Field Day, DOA...) were all cool.
Except those guys whotold everyone to ditch the show for a house party elsewhere.
You guys can go die.
Special thanks to Bad News Suze for the incredible hospitality.
And meat. A big hunk of cold beef. Thanks.
